Subject: Island Queen's roof collapsed - a picture

Thanks Judy for the picture illustrating the topic!

Judy's comments:
"Here's a picture of the incident Dale mentioned. On April 27, 1922 she was upbound from Cincinnati to Point Pleasant celebrating the centennial of the birth of U.S. Grant. The forward hurricane deck collapsed, injuring 28 boys, one of them permanently. Although we refer to this boat as the first ISLAND QUEEN, there actually was one prior to her: a sternwheeler built in Madison in 1893 originally named ST. JOSEPH, later MORNING STAR. (Way's Packet D.)"
