Thanks Pete and all the others who have posted their personal reviews of this video! When I booked the cruise for my wife and I, We had no idea of the importance of the trip. It was our first DQ cruise and our 31st Anniversary and we elected to take the 3 night trip as a "sampler". Needless to say, it was a fabulous experience and will lead to more cruises for us in the future.
Aside from the party and speeches that marked the dual "occasions" of first cruise for Delaware North and the 75th Anniversary for the boat, it was the people who made this very special. As each crew member was interviewed and the words of Doc Hawley and Jane Greene were recorded, it became obvious that the elements of a very interesting program had been captured. My original plan was to merely record on video some nice footage for personal viewing but I thought others might like to have this too so I went ahead and edited the program. It's very gratifying to know others appreciate this and I thank you all for that.
Hopefully, DQSC will approve the video for inclusion in their gift shops so they can earn something from it as well. Right now, it's going through the DN legal department for their approval.
If DN or DQSC had contracted to produce such a program, the cost would have run quite high, many thousands of dollars. So, what we've offered them is a program they can use to promote the DQ without up front expenses plus, should they elect to carry it, the ability to earn a little money for the boat.
And, if we ever break even on the production, we'll use those funds to book more trips. There's still a lot of river mileage for us to experience!
By the way, the shot of the lady with the camera and life jacket who turns and goes into the cabin is my wife, JoAnn. She really loved the trip!...Jim Herron
