I did the same to my garden, and weeds came up that weren't even native to that part of the country.
Back to the Pic of the Week: Upon magnification, who noticed all the folks seen on the boat? There's a lady coming aboard across the stage, and a gentleman on the Sun Deck about where the door is to the Officers' Quarters on the port, or Chief Engineer's side of the boat, and so on The only one who seems aware that a photograph is about to be taken is the fellow on the port-side fantail posing cross-legged with one hand on the railing. He must have been an engineer to have access to that area usually "Off Limits" to the public.
The rescue boat doesn't look like the one off the AVALON, but it may be. 1961? Wasn't that the first year Wagner was the Captain? Who remembers what month he started? That transom sign is pre-Doc Hawley's famous one we have discussed at length before. Does anyone know who took this professional-looking photo?
