Judy, as I remember, my grandparents and my cousins were to have 240 and 239 respectively on that trip. Shortly after my grandparents were contacted by the FBI and the Secret Service (2 agents from Milwaukee actually drove to their NE Wisconsin summer home in Door County to interview them!) the Delta Queen Company offered my grandparents alternate trip options as I recall many passengers had cancelled thier trips, and my grandparents almost did as well, fearing too much "hub-bub". But my grandfather being the Wisconsin Progressive that he was, figured it would definately be a once in a lifetime experience for them and my cousins. I believe that they ended up settling on some "A" rooms on the Cabin deck instead. But as a rule the texas deck was my grandfather's favorite...if he travelled alone...209, if I were to come along, or my mom, siblings, cousins...240, which is now 234 or 236?? It was also my Grandmother Zahn's last trip on the Delta Queen, she having passed on in July 1980 after an 8 month battle with cancer. My only regret in all these Delta Queen trips, along with my mother, is that we never shared a trip with her, but the many trips that I shared together with my grandfather and my parents kind of made up for that!.
