Some odds and ends while we await your next posting Ted. Keith reminded me of the communications guy on the pre trip. I ran into him in downtown Wabasha. You know what he was looking for? A pay phone! Keith also remembered the stories about the lockmen cutting the grass in the middle of the night and doing other touchup work on such short notice. As for Lexie and her sign, she felt guilty leaving me on shore as she got to ride overnight on the DQ, so when I came aboard in St.L, she handed me a photo of the President, Capts Martin and Fehlig in the PH autographed "to Judy, Jimmy Carter". Its front and center on my coffee table. Under that table I have the scrapbook I put together from the newspaper coverage. I had people from all over the country send me stuff, I think I ended up with 39 different newspapers represented. I made 3 scrapbooks: one for myself, one for Capt. Martin, and one for the boat. I put the one on the boat during the fall foliage cruise. Ted, did you ever see it? My suspicions are that it ended up in the Interlocutor's room, but I was hoping that other people had seen it first. Pete: was 339 your grandfather's usual room? Ted: Who else was on the crew? Keith and I came up with Mate Dick and Nancy Webber, but who was Chief Engineer? Was Louise still on that year? And your fellow pursers? ...........................
