I guessw e were continuing a tradition, though until now didn't know about the "poetry heritage" of the DQ. Last November, as the DQ was continuing to "carry the flag" while the other boats were tied up, we wanted a short poem to ecpress our appreciatio0n to the crew who were doing so much under adverse circumstances. we put it in a note to them, and i think, maybe in a letter to passengers which went into the cabins each cruise, entiotled "The delta Queen Spirit soars". the poem went like thgis: "She will sail forever, the Delta Queen... and not by Steam alone... but by the hearts, and minds, and deeds... of those who call her home." Thatt applies to all who helped Save the Queens, and those who went before to build her heritage... and especially the Greene Family and Phyllis Dale. God bless you, every one...
