Capt.Hammett and I used to laugh ourselves to death about the urge of passengers to win a prize. When He first worked for GreeneLine as a purser, I had to explain to him the various evening entertainments which were going on all the time. One evening he got me aside and asked'Why are all these peopl running around like RATS??" I explained that they were playing "HUMAN BINGO" and the first one to fill their card up would get a prize. Well, first he howled at the title"human Bingo", then he wondered what in the world could be the PRIZE to get them tripping over themselves to get it...Everlasting Life?? I told him that I thought it was a plate..he howled some more..{All that for a PLATE??}. I told him that I thought it's just human nature to want to win a prize..no matter what it is. I said "They would walk down the grand stair case on ther hands while singing Blue Moon if they thought they'd get a prize for it." He said, "No, Im waiting out for a paint by numbers picture of Jesus with a cigar in his mouth while steering the H.M.Stanley before I'd walk down those steps on my hands for a prize. So watch out for those prize seekers! A friend of mine still thinks I'm nuts for not buying my car at a dealer that gave you a free magnifying glass with each purchase. {I didn't NEED a magnifying glass!}...Jane
