Travis, Sorry I forgot to answer your question about the calliope on the ADMIRAL being knocked off the roof. As I recall, this happened in May of 1973, on the first cruise of the season, which had been delayed due to the big flood that year. The water was still high and the calliope "allided" (I can't get used to that Coast Guard word!) with the Poplar Street Bridge. I don't know if it was actually knocked off the roof, but it was damaged. I will ask Capt. Jim Blum, as he was the pilot on watch. Stay tuned!
