Travis-I agree, I wish someone could bring back a traveling showboat. I can remember my very first time on a showboat, The Majestic. I was too young to remember the exact year but it was probably around 1954 and I was about 4 years old. My most vivid memories as a 4 year old included stopping at the Dime Store in Cannelton, Indiana and I got a toy wristwatch, my first watch which I still have, and then we went to the boat. Mostly I remember sitting in my grandmother's lap in the balcony by an open window that looked out on the river where I watched boats going up and down. The show was most likely Ten Nights in a Bar Room or East Lynn. I do remember the candy sale, however. The next time was years later in Owensboro, KY about 1965 when it was traveling as the IU Majestic Showboat. Same show and I still did not get any candy during the candy sale!
