Yes, Travis, it WOULD be wonderful to have a traveling showboat on the river again! The MAJESTIC was still traveling when I was a kid, and I well recall when the Coast Guard declared her old wooden hull unsafe about 1965 and she continued to operate as a permanently moored attraction at Jeffersonville -- then owned by Indiana University -- my alma mater!! My parents often drove me up there to visit the boat and to listen to the calliope concerts on that wonderful old steam calliope on the towboat I.U. (formerly the Attaboy) at the stern of the showboat. Lots of people brought picnic baskets and sat on blankets in the park alongside Riverside Drive. It was "another time" never to come again. -- but we can dream!!!!!!!
