I was the last Captian of the TALISMAN. It no longer is in operation after nearly 40 years of operation. The City of Petersburg, did not maintain the low water dam on the Sangomon River which dates back to the late 1800's and therefore the river doesn't have enough water to float the boat most of the year.
There are efforts to rebuild the dam and bring back the Talisman, but funding is an issue. If you have interest in seeing the boat or another boat return to the area, please visit http://menardil.com and leave a message. The more support the better and if you would like to contribute to the efforts also leave a message.
