I too have been down to the boat over the last few days. After a New Years eve party, I stopped by and visited with the night Watchman on the boat.

I have great hopes for the affection I prey will be bestowed on the boat by our new merged City/County government starting next Monday.

As City Mayor, Jerry Abramson always gave attention to the Belle of Louisville and was a great supporter of her. I was working on the boat during his 12 year administration and remember the very positive working relationship we had with his offices.

With Mr. Abramson as new Metro Mayor, I feel her future is stronger than ever before.

But you are so right, she needs the support of our fellow steamboat fans and the public to survive.

So lets all try to stop by and visit her this coming season.

I expect to make quite a few trips this season myself. I can't imagine summer with out spending quality time trodding about her decks. It is a annual right of passage for me, has been since 1976 when I was first aboard her.
