Greetings:
Oh, my. Two E=Mails already arrived here at home on the GOLDENROD plight. 1. No, I'm ignorant as to just who "owns or has control" of her. 2. No, I'm not aware that any previous 'posters' on her last month have taken charge/assumed any official position to get the campaign going. I'd never stoop to relay names, E=Mails or addresses of friends/colleagues. 3. No, I'm again ignorant as to the present structural/hull issues or their costs. Elements of the four seasons are very hard on any vessel laid up: maintenance, heat, ventilation etc. What about plumbing, electrical wiring, power sources, required fire alarms/human or electronic security protection, interior/exterior repairs and cosmetic needs? The new membrane roof on the W.P. SNYDER came at no small cost. 4. I don't know what Coast Guard regs are on a wood superstructure "housing or carrying" more than 16 people. Heck, I don't recall what her hull composition is but assume it's steel, right? 5. No, I won't give/send names of "potential chairpersons" to take charge. Won't be me for sure! Letha C. Greene once said to me, "I learned long ago never to put my own personal money in the river business." Apparently she meant to use corporate/banking institution funds. Jane Greene may recall. 6. No, I'll just say my "personal investment" in the Str. W.P. SNYDER campaign back in the mid to late 1980s was between...oh...$1 and $3,000 +. Paper, postage, printing, telephone and car/driving expenses were itemized; not to mention time if one were being paid, which I wasn't. 7. The Snyder Foundation in Pittsburg did assist/grant the campaign on the SNYDER--but that's back here and it was 'their' boat at one time. The big Greater Cincinnati Foundation here has very strict requirements on submitting proposals and vintage boat/ship projects weren't one of them back then. Ever face the ordeal of writing up a formal grant proposal? I'm being direct and concise in what I know and don't know (more accent on the "don't know").
Regards and good luck to those on this matter. I was 'asked' and I had to answer.
