Welcome to Dot.org, Ed. Folks, this is the fellow I've written about on several occasions. He decked and also "punched the clock" on the DELTA QUEEN in the early '70's. When Captain Doc Hawley got me involved with the P.A. DENNY, in 1976, Ed was my first choice to be the Mate aboard the DENNY on the Kanawha River, but he went to school teaching instead. Ed's musical talents were such that Captain Betty called me into her office and warned me not to use him again, playing the banjer, in my afternoon presentations in the Orleans Room, on account it upset the Interlocutor.
