Subject: Re: S.S. BADGER

Originally plans for the return of the Badger's sister ship, the SS Spartan was to be a Muskegon to Milwaukee trip, however the Milwaukee Port Authority would have nothing to do with the concept, hence the next best alternative was south to the harbor at Racine, namely the former Walker Mfg. site at the north entrance to the harbor by the mouth of the Root River. Both the City of Racine and Racine County have a joint commission in order to lure the Spartan to stop in Racine as it's western turn-a-round point, along with attracting other Great Lakes cruising ships for shore stops. It would be great news if the CofM or the Milwaukee Clipper would return to cruising again, also if the Milwaukee Port Authority would have a change of heart, but then Racine seems to be more than willing to accept the extra tourism!
Regards from the lakeshore...Pete
