Frank there are many great maritime museums on our side of the lake...in Door County WI, the Door County Maritime Museum (which is trying to procure the last steam powered lake freighter built for a museum piece, rather than seeing it scrapped...the SS Edward Ryerson), and also in Milwaukee the Wisconsin Maritime Museum along with both Racine and Kenosha having some great maritime sections in their respective county museums. The current scuttlebut here is that the Badger's sister ship, the SS Spartan is in planning stages now for a diesel repower and the addition of cross lake service between Muskegon, MI and Racine, WI. It would be the 1st time the passenger trade would return to Racine since the demise of the famed Goodrich steamers. Being the great-great grandson of a Racine lake captain...that is good news for me. I realize that this subject s off the "Delta Queen" topic, but the great inland freshwater seas of the Great Lakes also hold some great inland steamboat and sailboat histories. On another note, I know of several communities that almost begged AMCV to have one of their former Cape boats stop in SE Wisconsin in one of our great lakeshore cities as a shore stop, but to no avail. Maybe the Cape boats might see a new home on the Lakes some day. Regards from the lakeshore...Pete
