Capt. Don After reading about your situation on deck stripping, I thought I would offer this info. This will be in reference to the M/V Casino Queen in E St. Louis, IL. About 5 OR 6 years ago the carpet on the outside decks was removed do to severe rusting under the carpet, it actually became a trip hazard. Management at the time instructed us to paint over the remaining glue. Makes a good nonskid except ofr the small pot holes we had to grind to steel to remove the rust. A few years after that we were hosting a USCG change of command ops on the observation deck. To remove the remaining glue, paint, rust, scale , we used a machine called a bead blaster. It used steel shot and recovered about 98% of the shot to be used again. I took some trial and error on our part to finally get the hang of the machine. If you are interested go to www.internationalsurfacepreporation.com. Under products look up Blastrac 1-DE99. They have various size machines to choos from. We were fortunate to have a local distributor here in town. If you are interested in its operation on our boat, I would be more than happy to answer any questions you might have. You can contact me at the Casino Queen 800 777-0777 ext 8254 Jim
