Judy, I just returned from Ireland last night and am catching up on postings. I now have read your posting regarding my comments as to gambling on the boats. At the time of your original posting regarding gambling, I wrote DQSC about the concern. I have the copy of the DQSC email sent to me stating that gambling was not in the plans for the steamboats. Also, I never said that all current entertainment would be kept intact. I have nothing to do with the entertainment or other operations regarding the company and I am certainly not "covering" for them. I only said in so many words that nothing should be speculated until the facts come out. You pride yourself on your "inside" information. Some of it is correct and some of it can be debated.
DNC bought the boats and even though they welcome our suggestions and opinions, the company will do what they can to carry on the tradition of Steamboatin' as well as looking at the revenue needed to operate them efficiently and at a profit. If they feel that a room for gambling on the AQ (or MQ???) will add to revenue and not disturb the ambience and quality of the cruise, then that is their decision.
At this time, DNC is putting additional funds into the company towards marketing, maintenance and operations. It will be several years before a profit can be recognized.
As far as being connected with the company, I'm only a past employee and a travel agent who dedicates the majority of her marketing time and monies to selling Steamboatin'...because I believe in it. And Judy, it's not for the money...I have a meager income. The majority of the monies made from Steamboatin' goes back into marketing and operations of my office plus the thank yous I give back to the clients. I certainly don't owe you this explanation however, you have made comments about this several times in your postings. DQSC would not want me to stop selling the steamboats. The bookings purchased by my loyal clients are a large part of the company's revenue. My heart is in Steamboatin' and that is all I have to say about that. I'm sure my clients have an altogether different and favorable opinion of me than you do.
I limit my comments on this board and many of the posters know and understand why I've elected to do this however, in my defense, I had to write this response.
