I'm no genius, but I do know people in the know who share info with me, and I knew what I was saying back then when Phyllis was berating me for pushing unfounded rumors. She of course was just covering for the company as she is vitally connected with them in her business. Her guarantee that no entertainers would be cut is obviously kaput too. I was so upset at those idiotic comments by Abramson that I didn't go over to see the DQ Friday. I stayed by the Natchez, which operates without focus groups! The word I had last summer was that they wouldn't mess with the DQ, but keep her as is, as the flagship. And of course, she'd fill up being the only regular overnight available. She wouldn't be profitable as gaming as she's too small anyway and probably wouldn't meet CG regulations with the wooden superstructure. So its no goodness on DN's part to not convert her, just practical business sense. Here's my current worry, not based on anything anyone told me, but rather on living in Riverboat Gambling heaven both here and in NOLA: casinos will do whatever it takes to get what they want. Usually its a threat to move or close down, and the community goes into an uproar. There is a LOT of opposition in La. over this proposal. I could see DN use the trump card of saying they couldn't operate all 3 boats without gambling so they'd have to close down one, and they'd pick the DQ to raise an uproar. I sure hope I'm wrong on this, but sentiment is not in the vocabulary of casino operators. A while back I posted a thank you to Abramson and Stephens for replying to my concerns. I was grateful for the reply, but I didn't post about the various items in Mr. Abramson's response which indicated he wasn't very familiar with the DQ, like misstating her draft, saying she wasn't under the SOLAS legislation but they followed the guidelines anyway, etc. I only wish Mr. Stephens were in charge of the DQ rather than of the whole conglomeration because he truly does have an affinity for the old gal and I don't think would sacrifice her for gambling. But she's just a drop in the bucket in what he has to oversee so I'm sure he'll go by the word of his underlings like Abramson.
