Its 8 hours until departure and 2 hours until I drive Doc Hawley and Jane Greene over to Robin Street. I didn't even ride the Natchez today in order to get everything ready: the cookies are baked, cameras and tape recorders packed, camcorder battery charged. I'm like a caged lion here in my French Quarter apartment. I can't imagine how Capt. Mike and crew are feeling right now. This weekend I have had the privilege of sharing time with Jane Greene and something she said at breakfast today caused me to post this on such a triumphant day. She was recalling the day her father died, and one of the things he was most concerned about while talking with her mother in the Evansville hospital was the Delta Queen. Letha told him not to worry, that if something happened to him, she'd see that the DQ kept going. Well, it did happen, and she did keep the DQ running for almost 2 decades during times of financial distress, mechanical and hull ailments, etc. So on this day of celebration, hats off to a West Virginia housewife with 4 kids to raise, Letha C. Greene. Without her monumental efforts and sacrifices, we wouldn't be celebrating tod
