Subject: Black/White vs. Color film for steamboat photography.

Dear steaboaters:
I know this may read 'dumb' but I've been wondering how many of you photographers out there (Judy, Franz, Tom S., Huffmans, John Fryant, John Weise etc., etc.) have/are expermenting with standard black/white photo film? I find my vintage steamboat photos and those from the Howard collection to be exceptional. Some old photos vary from stark black/white to tones of soft gray and 'sepia.' How did they get that warm 'sepia' tone? An article appeared here some weeks back discussing the new trend for photographers--digital and standard cameras--to use again black/white. I love color and enjoy the great photos this web posts. Black/white does have a certain 'feel' to it; especially when photographing steamboats. The tints, tone and atmosphere can be exceptional. Okay, who out there is experimenting again with black/white camera film and filters?
Cheers,
R. Dale Flick
