Another article deals with the acorn atop the mast,
which supposedly was a replica of one on the QUEEN
CITY. Capt. Mike reports that the replica has been
replaced several times over the years due to wear.
There was an original QUEEN CITY acorn on the DQ for
many years, on the roof bell. This acorn was a DQ
resident when Doc Hawley worked on the DQ. He took it
with him to each boat on which he was captain. So it
has adorned the DQ, the BELLE, and the NATCHEZ. That
acorn is currently in Doc's home. ..........
