Mike can give you the details, but they put the new hull around the old one. Space in between is used as holding or storage tanks, I believe. One of the problems before the new hull was that the wheel sat too low in the water. She now is more efficient. Unfortunately, the design of the new hull makes her look like she's on a sea-going barge. I've always hated that look, but its there now so nothing to do but live with it. If you look carefully at side views of the superstructure, from the garbage alley doors aft, she hogs a little, due to an incident in the drydock as they were putting the new hull on. I think in subsequent layups Capt. Mike has been responsible for removing some of that downward stern slope, and its not as visible as when she first came out with the new hull. But she's just like many a lady, as our age increases, so does our bottom!!!!!!!!!!
