Mike can give you the details, but they put the new
hull around the old one. Space in between is used as
holding or storage tanks, I believe. One of the
problems before the new hull was that the wheel sat too
low in the water. She now is more efficient.
Unfortunately, the design of the new hull makes her
look like she's on a sea-going barge. I've always hated
that look, but its there now so nothing to do but live
with it. If you look carefully at side views of the
superstructure, from the garbage alley doors aft, she
hogs a little, due to an incident in the drydock as
they were putting the new hull on. I think in
subsequent layups Capt. Mike has been responsible for
removing some of that downward stern slope, and its not
as visible as when she first came out with the new
hull. But she's just like many a lady, as our age
increases, so does our bottom!!!!!!!!!!
