Good news from the Steamer PORTLAND: The Steamer PORTLAND”s 2016 cruise season begins soon. Six cruises are scheduled:

  • – May 21 – Veterans and Mariners are Free – this cruise only (details in attached press release)
  • – June 18
  • – July 16
  • – August 20
  • – September – sold out (see explanation below)
  • – October 15

The September cruise is sold out to people who will be in Portland to commemorate  the 40th Anniversary of the 1976 Freedom Train Ride.

Check the OMM web site at for  the cruise day schedule (check in, return, lunch), and  reserve your places using the links to the  Brown Paper Tickets service.

Fares have not changed in two years, and we  very appreciate the fundraising income.  Tickets are still $75.00 per adult and $35.00 per child age 10-17.

The Steamer is scheduled to make a fuel run on Thursday May 12,  and we can once again thank McCall Oil for a generous donation that defrays a large portion of the fuel expense.  OMM is  grateful for this community support.

Steamer Portland Cruises Featuring Grant McOmie, Oregon Society of Artists and Portland Opera

July 9th, 2015 Franz Posted in Oregon Maritime Museum, Str. Portland Comments Off on Steamer Portland Cruises Featuring Grant McOmie, Oregon Society of Artists and Portland Opera

The Oregon Maritime Museum announces special guests who will join cruises of the Steamer PORTLAND for summer 2015. Each cruise is limited to 100 reserved guests, to sail on the fully restored historic steam sternwheel tug, the PORTLAND, which is owned and operated by the Oregon Maritime Museum.

All tours feature snacks and refreshments; docents to interpret the views; and – if conditions permit – a tour of the wheelhouse and engine room while the steamer is under way. Passengers will enjoy the historic charm of riding aboard the 219-foot long vessel, and learn about the past, present and future of the Willamette waterfront. Cruises are a minimum of four hours unless noted below. Trips depart downtown Portland, go north, and return to home dock. Some age limits apply.

Saturday, July 18 2015: Grant McOmie and Oregon Society of Artists

Grant McOmie, Emmy-award winning TV host of Grant’s Getaways (KGW Portland), is a journalist, author and teacher who writes and produces stories and special programs about the people, places, outdoor activities, and environmental issues of the Pacific Northwest. Grant will give a brief talk and sign two books, which can be purchased on steamer.

The Oregon Society of Artists will also be aboard on July 18, and will set up easels or sketchpads throughout Steamer. Watch them work; enjoy their creative views, and peruse original works that will be for sale.

Saturday, August 15, 2015 – Brunch cruise

Mini-cruise: two hours on the Willamette, includes a special brunch.

Saturday, September 19, 2015 – Portland Opera sings

The Portland Opera wowed our guests in 2014. They are back to sing “river” songs, a great way to observe the one-week anniversary of the Tillicum Bridge opening.

Saturday, October 17 2015 – Happy 35th Birthday, Oregon Maritime Museum!

Come in a birthday mood, as the museum celebrates its 35th year. Special guests TBA.
