Greene Line barges
Capt. Bob Reynolds asked about Greene Line barges in reply to Dale Flick's post. To my knowledge the Greene line operated two barges in the Cincinnati to Louisville auto trade. Both barges were old steamboat hulls. The Str. Ouachita and the Str. Cary-Bird. They were usually towed by the Str. Chris Greene. Greene Line also had a agreement with the Union Barge Line to tow UBL 1068, a covered barge ( with a building, not covers like today) on a bi-weekly schedule between Cincinnati and Pittsburgh.
