I noticed today that the mystery bell is for sale again on e-bay. Listed at: Antiques > Maritime > Bells, Whistles. The updated description says " The gentleman I am selling this for bought the boat himself to salvage in 1965 from one of the last active sternwheel paddleboats that cruised the Ohio/Mississippi rivers. The bell has a beautiful tone and is in very good condition. It weighs 243 lbs and is 16 inches tall and 25 inches wde. The bolt on base plate was added . . . shipping by truck from Ronan, Montana . . ."
There are several photos in the ad. I sent a question to the seller asking for the name of the boat. The seller told me the guy who owns the bell is 80 years old and does not remember the name of the boat. The opening price was $500 with a closing date of November 28th.
