Default Smithsonian exhibit in the works

For those who subscribe to WorkBoat magazine, there is an interesting article in the November issue (page 30) about the renovation of their maritime exhibits. When finished, the "On the Water: Stories of Maritime America" will have some interesting exhibits. The huge propeller of the 1848 great lakes steamship INDIANA will be on display. The article also shows a couple of photos from their archives. One is a photo of captain Edgar Brookhart at the wheel of the steam packet QUEEN CITY. Also an early New Orleans riverfront scene from 1859, with one of the "pre-racing" NATCHEZ sidewheelers in view.
Some of this article might be on their web site in a few weeks: www.workboat.com
