What was the first disel powered towboat?

Thanks for the information.

Way's IRR 1967 did not give the original engine details but noted she was re powered with National Superior diesels in 1938 with a total of 1600 horsepower.

Looks like the conversion of towboats from steam to diesel began in 1923 and ends about 1944 unless someone can chime in with more information. Has anyone developed a list of the towboats built during this era?

A related list would be of all the early screw type boats.
