Default AMERICAN QUEEN QC shore stop

The AQ was tied up at her QC landing at 7:35 this morning, a couple hours later than usual, but well ahead of her shore tour times. Considering all the low water perils she has encountered this past week, that was quite good. She is at a new landing, in Bettendorf, next to the Isle of Capri Casino and Hotel. This dock was constructed with the idea that the QUEENS would use it, but until today they docked at Oneida St. in Davenport. This site is where both the DQ and MQ were to land abreast of each other back in the Grand Excursion. Fortunately high water foiled those plans. I say fortunately because this dock is right in the heart of the Rock Island Rapids, and had the DQ and MQ both been there, one would have been precariously close to the basically one-way channel. (Perhaps remnants of the DQ's wheel which was shattered on the rock bottom on another trip are still lying on the riverbed.) This landing is a couple of miles upriver from Oneida St. in Davenport, which was a nice flat mile walk into the quaint Village of East Davenport along the bike/walk path. This landing is a ramp and 100 yards or so away from the quaint Isle of Capri gambling boat and hotel. At Oneida, locals could get a great closeup view of the entire length of the boat - here casino security will stop them at the ramp well away from the boat.
Here are shots from her approach and landing today, August 13, 2014:
1) The AQ and the Isle of Capri casino, which is an actual boat yet. The marina was built as part of the casino deal with Bettendorf.
2) the closest locals will get, and the ramp the passengers have to negotiate to get anywhere
3) the arrival, which started at 7 AM
