Louisville Wharf 1905 on Shorpy

There is an excellent photo of the Louisville & Evansville Packet Co. Louisville wharfboat with several packets and the Louisville life saving station dated 1905 on the Shorpy website.

Also check our this shot of the Jas. T. Staples passing an un-identified boat. The location isn't given in the caption.

Shorpy Photos

Those are really great photographs. btw, the STAPLES suffered a disastrous boiler explosion at Bladon Springs, AL (Tombigbee River) at Powes Landing on January 9, 1913. 26 perished.

Jas. T. Staples Whistles

Love the photos. Did anyone notice the configuration of the whistle on the Staples. Looks like one in the standard straight up position but is there one on each side at 90 degrees or is that something else? If it is 3 whistles I cannot remember seeing this type of configuration and if so, why.
