"Steamboat Sighting"

Despite the chilly temperature today, the sunshine is sparkling on the beautiful Ohio and, BEST OF ALL, The Str. BELLE of LOUISVILLE just passed upbound (on her first shakedown cruise of the season) and blew a whistle salute.

I stepped out on the back deck of the museum to wave and to enjoy the glorious sight of our beloved BELLE, steaming into her 100th year! What a thrill it is to hear that authoritative whistle again and see that red sternwheel churning amid clouds of steam!

HALLELUJAH! Spring is FINALLY here!

PS: THANKS, Belle crew, for the whistle -- it truly made my day!
