Default The Racehorse of the Western Rivers...

is flying again. The high water around Memphis yesterday slowed the NATCHEZ a bit, but as reported earlier by John Mullen, she's now in the Ohio River lock system page. She cleared #52 about an hour ago, so I figured this might be a good time to reach them by phone. Lucky guess, they had just passed Paducah, where there was yet another big riverfront fest going on. Capt. Steve Nicoulin says they're making 9 mph now, but with 6, I believe, locks to still transit and the ever-present river spectre of fog to consider, they aren't going to stop in Louisville, or anywhere, now. So, she should arrive by the dawn's early light Monday morning into the Queen City. The BELLE will be in later in the day, as she is staying overnight in Carrollton and bringing passengers in from Carrollton. As Capt. Ben posted on the Captain's blog, the COLONEL should be arriving early Saturday morning. I guess she'll be the first out of town passenger boat to arrive? The CITY OF SISTERSVILLE ferry is there already I know, but I'm referring to the excursion-bearing boats. As I've mentioned previously, I'll be helping out in the NATCHEZ gift shop throughout the event, and I'd like to have you .orgers make yourselves known if you ride the NATCHEZ - or email me to let me know to look for you! wzc8491@aol.com
