I have been going through land records in and around Samuel Washington's house known as Harewood. This is the house James Madison married Dolly Payne Todd. Dolly's cousin was married to Samuel Washington.

A fellow by the name of John Lawrence Hooff has come up who might be related to the Livingston's of Robert Fulton's wife. I noticed a Robert Fulton sold some land to Samuel Washington. I am not sure who this Robert Fulton was. I do know that Robert Fulton's wife's brother named Judge Robert R Livingston gave the oath to George Washington as first President. Samuel Washington was a full brother of President George Washington. Walter Washington owns the house today and he let me tour the house including the room James Madison and Dolly Payne Todd were married in. The room has been untouched since the wedding in the late 1700's and has been fully under the control of the Washington family since 1750.

By some very solid records, both Alexander Hamilton and General Lafayette were at the wedding around the same time when General Lafayette and Bishop Duboise started Mount Saint Mary's College in Emmitsburg MD about 50miles away in 1798.

Is it true that Judge Robert R Livingston's sister was really married to Robert Fulton? Is it true Robert Fulton invented or was involved with the Steamboat New Orleans captained by Nicholas Roosevelt? Is it true the boat was built by Peter Shouse of Shousetown PA and an unknown family in McKeesport connected to Edwin M Stanton and the Hutchison family of Meriwether Lewis?

I am researching several family members that start their names as John Lawrence or Lawrence John related to Roosevelt Lawrence buried just a few feet from Issac Hammitt. This includes John Lawrence LeConti, a bug collector with ties to Mark Twain and the steamboat "The Pennsylvinia". Records are clear that Roosevelt Lawrence would be related to John Lawrence LeConti and Catholic Bishop James Roosevelt Bayley and Joseph Hooff Cartwright. The LeConti's lived in Berkeley California, Virginia City NV and Berkeley County VA/WV.
