Default Live from the DELTA QUEEN's Officers Mess

...via New Orleans. Just got a call from Curator Keith, who is sitting in the Officers Mess of the DQ with the recently donated collection in front of him. He is astounded at the wealth of materials: Jim Burns' eyeglasses, photos of the fabrication of the hulls in Scotland, letters from Tom Greene, the shipyard toolbox with a plaque on it showing it was used in building the FORT SUTTER, and on and on. As was noted a bit when the donation was made to the DQ, the existence of these items wasn't really known - some people thought they had indeed acquired all of Jim Burns' artifacts, but that is obviously not the case. Travis has a digital camera and they promise to post some pix this evening of the collection spread out in the Officers Mess. Keith is staying in 212, and said it is very comfy, although the weather is cold. Fred Rich and Dan Lewis are going to try to raise steam this afternoon, so there's a good chance for a calliope concert with Travis and Keith aboard. Stay tuned!
