I happened to catch the last 20 minutes of a special show on the National Geographics channel last night. It was called "Gold Rush Ghost Ships" and featured Yukon River packet steamboats that served the Klondike gold rush (circa 1898-1901). Wish I had seen the entire program. They visited a steamboat graveyard, went down into the hulls to find spare parts (spare rudders, etc).
