Default River Remembrances

We were very pleased to have a large attendance for today's program at the Howard Museum, the second of three offerings, as part of our "Fall Into Art" show, which this year features the photographs of Capt. Jim Howard. The show will remain up until November 20th.

It was a real honor for me to be part of a panel which consisted of Capt. Alan Bates, Loretta Ruth Richter Heffern (granddaughter of Capt. Jim & Loretta Howard) Jim Reising and Kenny Howe. We all shared our remembrances, mainly of our early, youthful involvement with the museum and of Mrs. Howard's graciousness to us. Ruthie shared poignant and humorous memories of her grandparents, whom she adored.

Following the hour long program, everyone enjoyed the wine, cider, cheese, pastries and other goodies in the dining room. All seemed to greatly enjoy attending a party at the Howard mansion! I'm sure that Capt. Jim and Loretta were smiling down on all the activities, seeing their grand old home functioning as the museum of steamboating they dreamed of over 50 years ago.

THANKS to ALL who participated in today's program. Great to see a number of dot orgers on deck and other local steamboat enthusiasts!

Remember to mark your calendar for the Christmas Open House on Sunday, December 11th!
