Federal panel OKs historic designation for coal-burning Lake Michigan ferry

Sorry that I haven't been on the board much lately. My father, Walt Williams, was diagnosed with terminal cancer just 10 days ago, so I've been dealing with family concerns as of late. For those of you who have prayer chains, please add him to the list for me. It is much appreciated.

In the meantime, I saw this article on the S.S. Badger in the St. Paul Pioneer Press and thought I would share it with you. You can find the article here.

Thanks.

Sending UP Good Thoughts

Jeff, please know that you and your family will be much in the thoughts and prayers of your "River Family".

Take care!

Hi, Jeff,
I join Keith in sending you my thoughts and best wishes for your father. I've just sent a message to our church 'Prayer Chain' for Sunday's Bulletin and announcements.

Thanks for news about the recent legislative decision on the SS BADGER. Knew there were efforts on the ship's behalf and this confirms all.

Thanks for your prayers

Just to let you know, I'll be a regular contributor back on this forum shortly. My father passed away on November 10th (which, coincidentally, is the day he chose to go naturally). We had his funeral on the 17th with burial at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Oklahoma on the 18th. This last week has been difficult as I pack up the house.

But, like all of us "survivors," it is time to start moving forward with my life. I'll be taking off from Oklahoma later today and get back into the swing of things. Of course I'll always have the pleasant memories of the times we shared.

Thanks again for your concern.

Jeff

Deepest Sympathy

Dear Jeff,
Up eary with morning coffee as usual at my desk. Deepest sympathy from all of us on this great 'family' web site. We're not just about boats or 'things' but people. You'll find no more undestanding, kind, sharing, supportive group than Steamboats.org. I understand exactly what you are facing with breaking up a residence following the passing of your father. Hang in there and see you back on .org soon. Remember, 'a river runs through it.'

Psalm 56:
'You have noted my lamentation;
put my tears into your bottle;
arev they not recorded in your book?"
