River History Program in New Albany Tonight!
For those steamboat buffs and buffettes in the Louisville area, don't forget that TONIGHT is the Floyd County Historical Society's meeting, which will include a presentation, by noted riverlorian and calliopist extraordinaire Travis Vasconcelos, about the race between the steamers ROBT. E. LEE and NATCHEZ from New Orleans to St. Louis in 1870.
The free program will be held at 7:00 PM in the lobby of the historic United Gas & Electric Building at 138 East Spring Street in downtown New Albany. A reception will follow.
The "BY THE RIVER'S EDGE" steamboating exhibit (upstairs) will be open. This display will close on July 31st.
