Default New question: Harland Sanders

Sometimes I have too much time on my hands, like now. Surfing the internet, I went to Wikipedia and looked up Col. Harland Sanders. The article chronicles his life briefly up until the time he began franchising Kentucky Fried Chicken at age 65, but one thing that jumped out at me was the Sanders had worked as a [B]steamboat pilot[B] at some point before becoming a chef. I could find no other information expounding on this.

As we all know, information sometimes gets twisted. Do any of you Kentuckians know if Col. Sanders was actually a pilot, or did he just work on a boat (or even that)?
