The greatest living repository of steamboat history is Captain CCH of New Orleans. Whenever we talk on the telephone (about once a month), I am constantly taking notes. Though he would never fiddle with a computer, perhaps the new editor of the S&D Reflector can persuade him to write more of his more than entertaining and informative articles. His story of the loss of the J. M. WHITE seemed like a first-person account of the tragedy- it seemed as though the author was personally acquainted with the characters, and he would have been had he lived within their time period.
