Default Str. Mamie S. Barrett

Herewith are some of the images I captured last Tuesday about sundown of the Str. MAMIE S. BARRETT, beached high and dry in a cutoff at Deer Park, Louisiana -- about 17 miles downriver from Natchez. The old boat has been there since the mid 1990's and has steadily deteriorated. A mournful sight, indeed! I heard this morning from my friend at Vidalia and she said the river is now predicted to go up to 53 feet. Flood stage is 48 feet, so the MAMIE is going to be "floating" again just like last year when the river went to 57+ feet.
