Str. BECKY THATCHER to be Evicted

News comes from Marietta that the city council last week unanimously approved proceedings to evict the BECKY THATCHER from her city owned mooring along the Muskingum River, and to take legal action to pursue collection of any back rent for the landing space.

Meanwhile, the old steamboat continues to be offered for sale on Ebay.

River trivia: April 12th (Easter Sunday) marks the 40th anniversary of the grand opening of Ruth Ferris' MIDSHIP MUSEUM aboard the Becky at St. Louis in 1969.

Herewith are a couple of photos from earlier days: Images 1 & 2 were taken at the St. Louis levee in 1968 during the boat's renovation.

If the BECKY is moved out, and the river museum isn't open, and the QUEENS aren't visiting the town, there goes a lot of Marietta a river town image. Too bad, what a neat place.
