Default Nostalgia

Since I am a good bit older than most Delta Queen fans and crew members the things I miss on the rivers are of a different time. The place is the same, but even that has been radically changed. I miss the ferryboats between Louisville and Jeffersonville. I miss Captain Birch McBride, who died while I was in the army. I miss steam locomotives pulling hard. I miss the Illinois Central's locomotive whistles. I miss parents and a sibling. I miss total darkness and quiet.

Yet I live. Even missing those things, I can find happiness in rejoicing that I DID see, feel and enjoy them. My world has not ended because they are gone - rather, I appreciate them more.
