Default Steamboat terminology/slang

For a writing project, I'm looking for ways that steamboat culture may have impacted the English language--technical or slang terms that wormed their way into wider culture (possible example: the expression "he blew his stack"?)

Also, any information in general on steamboat slang would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Jenny
