Default Friends of Clermont STEAMBOAT Celebration

What do you think Robert Fulton or James Rumsey would say if they saw this photo?

The Rumseian Society Of Shepherdstown, West Virginia brought their 1/2 scale replica of James Rumsey's steamboat "The Experiment" to participate in the Clermont Historic Site's Steamboat Days. 2007 is the 200th Anniversary of Robert Fulton's North River and the first successful commercial steamboat venture.

There was 20 mph winds on Saturday, August 18th. They put their boat in the Hudson River but were unable to steam. Sunday was a much better day as you can see by this photo. If you look to the top left of the stack you can see the mansion that was part of the Robert Livingston Estate known as "CLERMONT".
