Despite the 100+ degree temps, things are hopping at the Howard Steamboat Museum this week. Yesterday we had an ice cream social (had to eat it FAST!) on the rear lawn, Tuesday evening (6-9 PM) is an Antiques Appraisal Fair with area antique experts (the nominal appraisal fees benefit the museum) doing a local version of Antiques Roadshow. And, of course, Saturday at 3:00 PM EDT is the "Footlights Afloat" showboat program -- third offering in the "River Ramblings" series. Full information is contained on the museum website at
www.steamboatmuseum.org or by calling the museum at 812-283-3728.
To those who are attending Saturday: The program will be held in the carriage house which is NOT air conditioned, so please dress comfortably!
Thanks very much for the cards, calls and good thoughts from river friends following my recent eye surgery. Everything went well and after a week of rest I'm looking forward to being "on deck" to greet many buffs and buffettes on Saturday!
