Reaction when the G.C.G. was laid up/sold?
I asked this question once before, but received no responses in the initial hubbub of the news about the DELTA QUEEN not receiving an extension to her exemption.
Does anyone know how people reacted when the Greene Line decided not to continue operating the GORDON C. GREENE? Was there any sentiment for the old boat, vs the "new" DQ (the little steamship)? When GLS sold the GORDON, was there a non-compete clause in the sale contract? Did the GORDON still have an active and valid Certificate of Inspection? The Greene Line obviously made their decision for business reasons, but were (I'm guessing) up front about it. Were there any cries of "I'll never ride that DELTA QUEEN!" or any of the collective disappointment we see today?
