If there are any "wealthy benefactors" out there who would like to purchase the calliope from the Streckfus excursion steamer WASHINGTON and donate it to the Howard Steamboat Museum, we would be DELIGHTED to have it! As has been reported on this site previously, the salvaged (and restored after a fire) pilothouse and stacks of the WASHINGTON are part of a unique boathouse of an estate along the Missouri River near St. Louis -- the owner having been a student of the late Miss Ruth Ferris. I'm sure that Travis ("Mr. Calliope") could fill in more details and enlighten us about the "steam pi-anna" being offered on EBAY.
