Default Golden Eagle in St. Louis

All are welcome to hear member Henry Evans speak at the Sun., June 18, meeting of the Golden Eagle River Museum club in St. Louis. Since closing our own museum, we have been meeting quarterly at the Carondelet Historical Society Museum at 6303 S. Michigan, St. Louis. Meeting is at 1:30 p.m., program to follow. Bill Shive is our president.

Henry will talk about ferry boats that he rode in 1995 on a trip to Washington state and Alaska. He also will discuss the S.S. Admiral origins, which are directly linked to the ferry boat Kalakala of Puget Sound, and the Washington state ferries of the 1930s.

Henry is a builder of model steamboats and is currently working on a complete set of Streckfus steamers. He has completed the Saint Paul, Capitol and J.S. Deluxe, and a model of the President is now under construction. He is a professional musician, serving as organist and choirmaster of Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church, Edwardsville.

Our summer event will be a July 28 tour of Bellefontaine or Calvary Cemetery (your choice), lunch at Ponticello's, and a visit to a Lewis and Clark site in Belle Fontaine (alternate spelling) State Park on the Missouri. Our regular meeting on Sept. 17 will be a trip to see Gary Lucy's new mural, a studio tour and lunch in Washington, Mo.

You may receive details in our next "Paddlewheel" newsletter by sending $8 single or $15 family to treasurer Ed Miller, 12616 Cottage Ridge, St. Louis, MO 63127.
