Just a note so you can mark your calendars for the 8th program in my "RIVER RAMBLINGS" educational lecture series at the Howard Steamboat Museum.

This year's program will be on SATURDAY, AUGUST 11th and will be entitled "The Big Silver Boat: Remembrances of the Excursion Steamer Admiral", presented by Capt. Jim and Annie Blum. Both were longtime crew members on the boat and will provide personal insights and images.

As many will recall, the ADMIRAL was cut up for scrap last year after a long career as the sidewheel railroad ferry ALBATROSS, the Streckfus excursion boat ADMIRAL, an entertainment vessel for Six Flags and finally as a casino on the St. Louis riverfront.

The program will begin at 3:00 PM (EDT) and admission is $5 per person. If it's a hot and humid day, we will convene inside the mansion where we now have air conditioning!

I always schedule these presentations at 3:00 PM so those who wish can ride the BELLE of LOUISVILLE on her afternoon cruise (Noon-2:00 PM) and have plenty of time to drive over to the museum. Ride the BELLE while you can!

Looking forward to seeing y'all!

"Curator Keith"

PS: Don't forget: Memorial service for Capt. Alan Bates aboard the BELLE (dockside) this Saturday from 4:00 until 6:30 PM, followed the next week by the HSM Pilothouse and MQ bell dedication on Saturday, June 9th at 2:00 PM.
